This is the bare uBotino (MicroBotino) PCB, for people that already have all the parts needed for assembly.

I bought a Sparkfun FTDI Basic breakout board to program my uBotino. The uBotino FDTI pins are labelled left to right GND, Vcc, RX, TX, DTR; however, the FTDI breakout board has the correspong pins labelled GND, 5V(Vcc), TX, RX, DTR. Are the labels backwards on the uBotino, or are the pins actually reversed, or does it matter?
The Rx from the FTDI board goes to Tx on the uBotino and the Tx from FTDI goes to Rx on the uBotino. The rest of the pins go directly where they are supposed to (GND to GND, Vcc to Vcc, DTR to DTR). On my first microcontroller board I did not reverse Rx with Tx and I didn’t know why the board was not sending serial data. I’ve learned my lesson, so this time it is done right. Keep in mind that you can plug in directly an xBee regulated board in place of the FTDI cable (or FTDI basic board) and have a wireless serial connection.
What are the differences between the original and V2 of the ubotduino?
There are 3 differences:
- yellow color
- analog pins numbering corrected on the silk screen
- possibility to use a crystal and caps OR a ceramic resonator
